Atmosphere and specifics

• Many people use the name of the national monumental city park to refer to the area, but formally, it is not a neighbourhood. It is more like a district within the neighbourhood Utrecht-Oost.
• Mostly villas and terraced stately houses within urban building block (ca. 1900).
• Central axis is the Stadhouderslaan.
• The park Wilhelminapark was constructed in English landscape style and designed in 1898 by Hendrik Copijn and J.A. Loran. The statue is of Queen Wilhelmina.
• Utrecht-Oost is a collective name for Oudwijk, Buiten-Wittevrouwen and the Schildersbuurt.
