- The Watervogelbuurt was built in the 1920s.
- The building style of the houses reminds of the Amsterdamse School
- The Gansstraat is an historic main road and consisted of ribbon development. Along Gansstraat are several large facilities such as the cemeteries and the women's prison and former Pieter Baan Centrum (psychiatric clinic)
- In the course of the 19th century, the area of Oosterkade and Westerkade was further urbanised Oosterkade and Westerkade are now renovated further.
- Both are being restructured with more room for restaurants and cafés, recreational vessels, pedestrians and cyclists. The historic identity is also enhanced. This way, the quays must perform their role as gateway area of the city centre better.
